Dear Denizens of the Crooked Thimble,
You may have noticed some significant changes over the last couple of months. For example, the Innkeeper has been relatively quiet, and some loudmouthed braggart has been posting livestreams in the pub.
The big news: we’ve moved to Portland. Well, near Portland. Briana – who maintains the Innkeeper’s account – has been working full time. Trick – the aforementioned braggart – works from home now and sometimes refers to himself in the third person. This reversal of positions will continue to affect the site going forward. Particularly because our inter-dimensional inn has undergone a shift in purpose.
We have a Patreon! Check it out: http://www.patreon.com/crookedthimble
We’re focusing on producing writing, podcasts, and gaming.
Friend of the thimble Rachel Judd has her premiere novel, Rain of Ash, available in a variety of formats. Trick continues to take his latest novel, The Data Collector, around to various agents. A sample of that work may be found here. More stories will crop up on The Trickster’s Hand in the coming months.
We’re reworking the Pile of Shame podcast for a sort of re-launch. We’re turning it into more of a “game club” akin to the Sword & Lazer book club. We’ll still be digging through our Steam games, but we’ll also be looking to hear from players of our monthly featured games. (Pssst! Keep it secret, but our first featured game is going to be Stardew Valley. *Winky face*) We’re also looking at producing an Actual Play podcast of a tabletop game of Dungeon World. That’s still in the works, though.
Before we get to The Crooked Thimble’s delightful gaming content, our friends at Ravensdale Publishing have some news! They are preparing for a new Kickstarter for Villains and Henchmen, and everyone should hop over there to check it out. They’re basically making a better Sentinels of the Multiverse. Basically. Oh, let them explain it.
Finally, we’re producing a number of gaming-related products. Trick is producing a twice-weekly Roguelike livestream: RogueLife. We’re playing games both recognized as RogueLikes and some which were inspired by them or inspired the genre. Right now, we’re in the midst of playing Sunless Sea. Which is like high-quality game literature. It’s the best.
The Crooked Thimble is also producing a game of its own. Technically, it’s a series of games, but that’s a touch ambitious to announce. We’re developing it in Unity, and will be publishing it digitally on whatever platforms we can. More platforms equals more money! Right? We’ll talk about it more later. It features art from Briana as well as code and design from Trick.
Thanks for sticking with us through this transition. It’s going to be a fun ride!
Sincerely,
Trick Dempsey
